History of the skeletons
The first 6 skeletons were made back in 1995, as a commission for the
theater production of " The Revels" in Oakland CA. The theme
of that year's performance was Mexico, and the skeletons weaved the show
together as a transition act.
Since then 2 new skeletons were made, as well as many props and puppets
for the skeleton to play with.
The technique used to make the skeletons is very similar to that of "Papier
Maché", but instead of paper the bones are made with a casting
material called thermoplastic. The first skeleton took about a month to
be finished, and the last one was made in 2 weeks with 2 people working
full time.
Many variations are possible, from added details, like horns, tail and
fangs, to different finishings like color, texture or even costumes, like
this year's creation of Mozart's resurrection.
I love to perform at street fairs, carnivals, conventions, and any large
event where the skeleton shines and always gets a warm reception. In the
fall of 2003 I began performing weekends at the Fisherman's Wharf in San
Francisco, where thousands of tourists have enjoyed the opportunity to
interact with such an amazing character. I love to get in contact with
people and make them laugh and scream.
